Michael Nash, known professionally as Nash — a nickname from high school to distinguish himself among classmates — is a Renaissance-minded artist and educator dedicated to elevating marching arts programs. Nash bridges creativity and logistics, combining decades of experience as a Visual Coach, Designer, and Non-Profit Consultant to deliver holistic solutions that help ensembles look, sound, and feel their best.
Nash’s marching arts journey began in 1973 with the Chevaliers of Waterloo, Iowa, which became the Royal Chevaliers in 1975. He marched with the Osage Precisionaires (1976) before moving to the West Coast, where he found a home with the South San Francisco Conquistadors (1979–1980). After a hiatus, he resumed with the San Francisco Renegades Senior Corps (1998–2000) and became part of the management team for Impulse (2000–2003), SoCal Dream (2003–2013), and Watchmen (2015–Present), serving in roles including President of the Board, Corps Director, Visual Tech, Program Coordinator, Tour Manager, and horn line member.
Over the years, Nash has taught all levels of drum corps and high school programs, serving as Visual Tech for St. Paul Scouts (1979), Costa Mesa High School (2023), and Schurr High School (2025). He has worked with Logan High School (1984–85), Renegades (1998), Impulse (2000–2001), SoCal Dream (2005–2006), Gabrielino High School (2006–2007), Norco High School (2010–2011), Los Amigos High School (2014), and as Visual Caption Head for Dynasty Marching Band of Ramona High School (2015–2017). He is currently the Visual Caption Head at Bellflower High School, shaping programs with precision, artistry, and clarity.
As founder of Marching4U, Nash provides comprehensive program consulting — from show design and visual coaching to props guidance. He also serves as Territory Concierge for Guard Closet Consignment, creating seamless experiences for marching arts programs across Southern California and Southern Nevada.
Nash is deeply integrated in the marching arts ecosystem, collaborating with BAC Musical Instruments , Virtual Assistant Director (VAD) networks, and actively engaging with the SCSBOA and NAMM Conferences. He leverages these connections to help programs access top-quality resources and maintain excellence in performance and visual design.
I believe design and instruction are extensions of the human touch — where vision, form, and emotion meet purpose. My role is to bring clarity and connection to every program I touch.
